About
This five sleeper cottage is light and spacious with contemporary blues and creams and enough dots and ditsy prints to denote you’re out of the city. There’s a utility room for your muddy boots if you’ve been out walking, and an open plan layout to our upcycled kitchen and dining area.
The laid back living area has a solid fuel stove and you’ll have local peat and logs so you can snuggle down to watch TV or your favourite films as there’s free WIFI and Google chrome as well. There is another comfy sitting area too with an open fire where you can relax with a good book, listen to whatever is on the old transistor radio or even strum a tune on the guitar yourself, and a soft carpet to get the board games out on.
When it comes to bedtime make your way down the hallway to a choice of three rooms. There are two double bedrooms with fluffy soft beds and a single with an iron framed bed and lots of storage. The bathroom has some more ditsy prints with a separate electric shower.
Teabags, coffee, sugar, milk and salt & pepper are provided and we’ll make sure there’s something for you to eat when you arrive and some fresh eggs from the farm hens for your breakfast too.
Location: Ederney is a 10 minute drive (4 miles) away and has 3 convenience stores where you will get all the groceries you need - the Mace shop has lots of local produce and an off-licence.
Irvinestown is a 15 minute drive away (10 miles) and has a bakery, two butchers (Millar Meats is award winning and does our favourite steaks and burgers), a larger supermarket and a fresh fruit & vegetable market every Monday & Friday. You’ll find the larger supermarkets in Omagh and Enniskillen, both approx 30 mins drive away.
About the farm: There are sheep & cattle on the farm who you’ll see and sometimes hear out in the surrounding fields or in the sheds. We do have pets on the farm too - you are sure to meet our friendly dogs who can be over-enthusiastic sometimes but won’t bother you.
There are 2 farm cats, goats, a horse, ducks and chickens with a few roosters who shouldn’t disturb you in the cottage even though they make quite a noise in the yard when the sun comes up. The yard can sometimes be a little noisy with the comings and goings of tractors and farm machinery especially at busier times of the year but all part of the experience!
Things to do: Sit in the garden and enjoy the sound of birdsong (and sheep!) while you watch the clouds go by. Or take a walk on the farm to some lovely views of Lough Erne - check with us and we’ll point you in the right direction. There are lots of walks locally in Fermanagh, Tyrone and Donegal and there’s lots of information on walking in the cottage.
There are some beautiful short walks a short drive away where you can see unspoiled waterfalls at Sloughan Glen near Drumquin and Dummoney Falls near Kesh. Drumskinny Stone Circle is a very old historical monument worth a short visit near Kesh. Use the cottage as a base to enjoy visiting lots of great places and eating out within 30min drive in Fermanagh Tyrone and Donegal .
Whether you’re planning a break to visit relatives, explore the area, an activity break, a family getaway or simply recharging your batteries, we hope you enjoy Betty's Farm Cottage.
