Newforge House

About

Newforge House is a 5 Star Georgian Country House opened by John and Lou Mathers in May 2005. Cradled in beautiful gardens and green fields, Newforge House offers warm hospitality and superb food in tranquil surroundings. Light, airy rooms blend antiques with contemporary comforts and offer uninterrupted views of mature gardens and countryside.

We are very proud to have received numerous other awards for 2014:
Georgina Campbell’s “Best Country House In Ireland”
Irish Breakfast Awards “Best Country House Breakfast” and “Irish Breakfast National Winner”
Good Food Ireland’s “Culinary Haven of the Year”
The Restaurants Association of Ireland’s “Best Hotel Restaurant in Ulster”
Licensed, Catering News "Guesthouse of the Year"

As a small family run Guesthouse, we aim to make each guest feel very much at home. On arrival we invite guests to relax by the fire in our cosy drawing room whilst enjoying a pot of artisan leaf tea or freshly brewed coffee with homemade biscuits. We have a passion for local, seasonal produce which John showcases in our daily dinner menu. We have a small orchard which provides fruits for desserts, chutneys and preserves, and is home to our friendly chickens that lay wonderful eggs for breakfast. Homegrown soft fruit and vegetables also feature in our dinner menu. Our "Ulster Fry" is legendary and we won the "Best Breakfast in Ireland" recently at the Irish Breakfast awards.

Set on the edge of a small village, and set in countryside, Newforge House boasts wonderful mature gardens which provide an oasis of calm. Newforge house is the perfect location for a romantic break. The house and gardens are available for exclusive hire, making it a wonderful venue for an intimate family gathering, or a magical small wedding tailored to suit your individual requirements.

Our central location also makes Newforge a perfect touring base for touring Northern Ireland, with Lough Neagh around the corner and Belfast just 30 minutes drive.
