The Linen House

About

Situated in the historic and picturesque village of Upperlands, two miles outside of the South Derry Town of Maghera at the foot of the stunning Sperrin Mountains. This charming village is steeped in history and owes its existence to the Clark family who established the first linen mill here is 1736. The development of the linen industry led to the formation of the village to accommodate employees of the mills, the Boyne Row just next to the house is a perfect example and these buildings are listed.

This luxurious and perfectly finished house is warm and welcoming and full of charm. The house sleeps up to 18 people in nine double en-suite bedrooms including one disabled access bedroom. Perfect for family reunions, groups of friends celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, hen parties or just getting together to explore the beautiful wide open clean and green countryside of Mid Ulster. Four bedrooms have kitchenettes including tea/coffee making facilities, kitchen sink, fridge and cupboards. The main communal country style kitchen is fully equipped including a modern range oven, fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Shared communal living room also full of charm.

Built in the early 20th Century the house has a long a varied history, serving the community as a variety of shops over the years and most recently a post office. It was purchased by the current owners and converted into rental accommodation and in 2019 was beautifully updated and modernised to facilitate the demand for accommodation in the area due to the huge success of The 148th Open at Royal Portrush.
