About

Do you have the skills to survive in the wild? Do you know what’s good to eat in the woods and how to find it? It’s time to find out. So join one of Finnebrogue’s bushcraft or foraging experiences and put yourself back in touch with nature.

Welcome to beautiful Finnebrogue Woods, the perfect habitat for learning the basics of bushcraft. Here you’ll meet Rob, our bushcraft expert, at his camp. He’ll be your guide for the day.

Rob grew up in the Black Forest. A qualified mountain leader, he has led and taken part in expeditions all over the world - from the Antarctic and the Canadian wilderness to the peaks of the Andes. As a teenager he spent long periods off-grid in Central America, learning from indigenous communities and living off the land.

Rob loves to pass on his knowledge of the great outdoors. From him you’ll learn essential survival skills and campcraft - like how to build a shelter and how to make a fire. Then gather round that fire and maybe Rob will share a few tales of his adventures.

You’ll be cooking your lunch on a campfire too. Your full-day experience includes a tasty lunch pack with our very own Finnebrogue Dexter burgers & sausages. Plus a brownie to keep up your strength, all provided by Fodder, our onsite tipi café and farm shop.

Like something a little different with your brownie? Then foraging is for you.  Foraging - gathering food that grows in the wild - is a hot topic these days. Of course, our distant ancestors didn’t have any choice. They foraged to survive. Rob knows exactly how they did it - join him at Finnebrogue and he’ll share his secrets.

Learn the rules, principles and background of foraging. Find out about the sort of kit you need and how to stay safe. Discover how to identify what’s good to eat and what’s not.

Naturally the menu changes depending on what’s in season. But whatever you forage, it’s guaranteed to be very, very fresh. And if you don’t find quite enough to satisfy your appetite? Well, your lunch pack of Finnebrogue Dexter burgers & sausages, cooked on an open campfire, will certainly fill the gap.
