About

The Shortcross Gin Discovery and Tasting experiences take place on Rademon Estate, which dates back to AD 565. Their award-winning gin is Northern Ireland’s first craft gin, made with techniques and provenance that result in quality you can taste.

Wild botanicals grown and foraged in the nearby lush green fields, blooming gardens and dense forests all go into Shortcross gin, including wild clover, apple, elderflower and elderberry.

As you arrive and make your way across the stone bridge over the Ballynahinch river, up the winding forest path and onto the distillery grounds, you’ll be welcomed by your Shortcross host. Then it's time to settle in to your visit by enjoying one of their many show-stopping cocktails at the distillery bar. From there, you'll be whisked off on an informative tour of the copper stills and learn how they make their unique gin and Irish whiskey, while soaking in the sights and aromas of a working distillery.

You'll hear stories from founders Fiona and David about their journey, the history of the estate - including its unique connection to the Game of Thrones - and the sustainable practices they’ve brought to this beautiful part of County Down.

Your visit includes neat tastings and a lesson on how to pour the perfect G&T, as well as creating a bespoke label and wax dipping your own personalised bottle of gin to take home. You’ll leave with that bottle and a Shortcross copa gin glass, along with perhaps a purchase or two from the delightful gift shop.

This distillery provides a thoroughly modern experience in ancient settings which is perfect for any gin lover.
