About

Direct Wine Shipments is Northern Ireland's "Aladdin's Cave of Wines" with a focus on high quality famous names & niche growers, giving an excellent selection of wines an prices to choose from. Their regular public & private tastings are a fun way to learn about wine.

Founded in 1954, Direct Wine Shipments is a dynamic, family-owned, independent wine merchant located in the heart of Belfast's docklands. They pride themselves on their comprehensive award-winning range of high quality wines and their down to earth approach to customer service.

The McAlindon family's passion and enthusiasm for wine has been the driving force for the development of the company into a leading independent retail and wholesale wine merchant and wine producer. From bottling Guinness and wine in the 50’s the emphasis moved to importing quality wine from independent and family owned wine producers from around the world. Today this ethos continues and their large range includes Hunters, Luigi Bosca, Paitin, Pommier, Vega Sicilia& Vogüé.

Direct Wine Shipments has a large wine store open to the public on the ground floor & tasting rooms upstairs. The staff are passionate, knowledgeable and educated about the wines and will able to assist you in any queries regarding wines, food and wine matching, wines for weddings, events and parties.

In 2003 the McAindon's purchased a vineyard in Priorat, Spain where they produce the rich, full bodied 'Creu Celta'. The symbol for Creu Celta (meaning 'Celtic Cross' in Catalan)is inspired by the exceptional 15th Century High Cross found on Devenish Island in County Fermanagh.

The trade side of the company 'McAlindon Wines' supplies many of the leading restaurants in Belfast and throughout Northern Ireland.

In the shop you can purchase wine by the bottle, the case or large quantities for events. Gift vouchers and tasting tickets are available.
